We hardly know anything about the Polaroid Electric Eye 850, so here goes.
Produced from 1961-1963, this model features a polished steel body with tan textured cover. It has an electronically controlled shutter and automatic programmed exposure. There are two built in tripod mounts (one on the bottom - which would be considered the front of the camera when it is closed up, and one on the side), which increases display options. This camera measures 10" long x 3" wide x 6" tall when closed.
There are a lot of determined people out there that convert these into Large Format and 120mm cameras, like this crazy dude
, who includes DIY step-by-steps. If that's intimidating, you can pay these people
to do it for you. Do your thing.
We recommend this for collectors that appreciate the craftsmanship and dual aesthetic of the land cameras, as they have strong features from both the early rail-focus designs and a distinct 1960's design.
This camera comes with a crazy leather case, three packs of flash bulbs (extremely rare), a light meter, emulsion kits, etc. Weird. Take care of it.
